Stephen Cameron

Class of 2007

Sr. Weight Class:

103

Wrestling History

Well it all started in 9th grade when I wrestled at Meridian Junior High.  I then came up to Kentwood at a huge 93 pounds and shared varsity time at 103 for the next two years with Brandon (State champ) Rodgers.  After a full summer of freestyle and greco, getting 40 matches and being on Team Washington,  I was ready to have the 103 spot all to myself.  My senior year I placed at every tournament except Pac Coast and at State.  The summer after my senior year I was on Team Washington again and went 7-2 in greco and 5-3 in freestyle.

Current News

Just hanging out and preparing to help out at Kentwood and Meridian Middle School next year and I plan on being at all the Kentwood practices and Meridian practices and hopefully become an assistant coach.

Coaches' Memories

Stephen is a testament to what hard work, dedication, and extra mat time can do for a wrestler.  Stephen went from being a wrestler without a spot on the Varsity, to a state competitor (and state caliber freestyle and greco wrestler too) because of his hard work not only during the season, but in the spring and summer as well.  We look forward to seeing Stephen in the wrestling room for years to come.
