Wrestling History |
| Polish Pride! I came to Kentwood in
the year of 2003. I was just a lowly sophomore unaware of
the huge difference between jr. high wrestling and high
school wrestling. My first year was quite disappointing to
say the least. But it was partly my fault. Due to my
laziness and slacking, I was on JV and got my butt handed to
me from time to time. So this goes out to you Kentwood
wrestlers new to the program. DO NOT be lazy and/or slack
off, even if things don't look so great your first year;
stick with it and work hard every practice. It will pay off
in the future. Trust me. My junior year, I improved quite a
bit from the previous year. I was still on JV... but only
because this crazy freshman came out of nowhere. But it's
cool because he is going to be a great wrestler. I only
ended up only losing three matches on JV that year. This was
only an incentive to work hard over the summer for next
season. My senior year... its what I have been working for.
I was on varsity finally at 135 lbs. I ended up doing much
better than the previous years. I even placed 2nd in two
tournaments. I placed 4th in Sub-Regionals earning me a spot
in the Regional Tourney. Sadly enough... my Kentwood
wrestling career ended that day on Saturday, February 11th
2006. It was tons of fun, thanks to all the coaches for
their hard work and thanks to all the guys for the fun
memories. I'll miss you guys. |

Current
News |
| Currently, I have been working at the Keg
restaurant and periodically going to the gym to stay in some
sort of shape. I will be leaving for WSU on August 17th. I
plan to join the club wrestling team there. Jake Grajewski
is the vice-president. So it should be fun. I also plan to
do a lot of conditioning while I'm there so when I come back
to visit you guys, I will still be able to keep up some
what. |

Coaches'
Memories |
| One of the best moments of Dan's career (in
the coaches' eyes) was actually his last match as a Kentwood
Conqueror. It was at the regional tournament, and Dan
had an extremely hard weight. After losing his first
match to a number one seed, Dan was matched up with 4-time
state placer Jonny Gilbertson from Cascade. Dan gave
Jonny everything he could handle, and was one stall call
away (Gilbertson was stalling like crazy!) from the match
being put back on their feet in the third round, and the
potential of ending Gilbertson's 4 year placing run in what
would have been the biggest upset in the state!
Dan matured so much during his years at Kentwood, and he
will be remembered for his hard work and dedication.
We will miss Dan in the practice room, and we look forward
to seeing him back in the room again. -Coach Sroka,
Anderson, and Anderson |
